Theme for 2012 : Hélios

Vivre Côté Sud is waiting for you from June 8th to June 11th in Aix-en-Provence, in the parc Jourdan, for a 14th edition characterised by Hélios.

The personification of the sun, a hero of Greek mythology comparable to Apollo, the god of music and the arts, Helios also brings out the best of everything here on earth…

The sun and the South are one entity. What would the South be without the sun slipping through the bamboo canes, without the play of light on the sea, without the brilliant reflection of sunlight on the whitewashed walls of the houses. Without the sun, there would be no colours ; it matures the olives and tans our skins, it adds a precious contrast to our landscapes, the inspiration of so many artists.

The South is in love with Helios and worships him unconditionally : from the decoration of its pottery, to the flavours of its dishes and even in the name of its famous motorway… But the South also knows how to harness the Sun’s energy and work towards a greener future.
